Benjamin R. Barber is the Gershon and Carol Kekst Professor of Civil Society and Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland. An  internationally renowned political theorist, Dr. Barber brings an abiding concern for democracy and citizenship to issues of politics, culture and education in America and abroad. He consults regularly with political and civic leaders in the United States and Europe. Dr. Barber’s latest book, Consumed, will be cited in our September 26th Lyceum lecture, “Freedom, Desire, and Moral Responsibility”.
